Student Ministry Summer Plans

Dear Students and Parents,

We are in the process of updating our summer plans for the student ministry, and we are excited to provide some more opportunities to connect with all of you in the coming months. Our schedule of upcoming events is below.

First, we are updating our small group format for the summer. Instead of meeting virtually through a platform like Zoom, we are going to try to schedule some in-person meetings, following social distancing guidelines. Based on the number of students on average, we are combining groups into one High School Girls group, a Middle School Girls group, and one Guys Group with middle and high school guys. These will meet every other Sunday night with a planned activity or service at individual homes. Information about the locations will be sent out soon. Our first small group is scheduled for Sunday, June 14. Small group leaders will be reaching out to students this week to get them more information. The rest of the dates are outlined on the summer schedule below.

Our other exciting change for the summer is schedule youth nights every other Wednesday during the summer. To comply with social distancing guidelines, we will be hosting these events at Deep South Farms, a wedding venue here in Gilmer County. These will be opportunities for students to fellowship and worship together. Our first scheduled Wednesday night will be Wednesday, June 10. See below for details.

These two events, small groups and youth nights at Deep South Farms, will continue through the summer until we can resume normal youth activities in the student center. Tentatively, our first Wednesday night back will be August 5th, and we plan to have our annual “Pass the Torch” night for the seniors on that Wednesday.

We are also rescheduling our summer camp for fall break in September. Tentatively, these dates will be Saturday, September 19 through Wednesday, September 23. Our plan is for this to be basically the same trip we had planned for the first weekend in June. We will still be going to Laguna Beach Christian Retreat in Panama City Beach, Fl. We will get more information to you about this trip as it is available.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding any of the information in this letter, please contact Laney Henson at 706-515-5611 or laney@fbcellijay.com.

We love and miss you all!

Wednesday Night Worship Services

Plan for the Summer

We are so excited to be able to see you all in person on Wednesdays, June 10, at Deep South Farm (see schedule above). This will be similar to our usual Wednesday night worship services just in a different location with some additional guidelines for social distancing. All students who attend will be entered to win a prize giveaway, and announcements will be made about prizes available at later meetings that you won’t want to miss! We will have a time of worship and a message from Josh Moyers.

Location:

Deep South Farm

877 Mulkey Road

Ellijay, GA 30536

Schedule:

Our service will begin at 6:30pm on Wednesday night. Please do not arrive to Deep South Farm prior to 6:15pm. The service will end at approximately 7:45pm, and we ask that all students leave or be picked up by 8pm if possible.

Arrival and Pick-up:

Parking is available at the fork in the road as you pull in for students that are driving or parents that wish to stay for the worship service. Families are welcome to join us, or students can be dropped off and picked up in front of the barn.

Social Distancing Guidelines:

  • Chairs will be placed separately from each other to comply with social distancing guidelines.
  • We ask that attendants maintain social distancing and refrain from hugging and handshaking.
  • There will be no food present at the service. As it is summer and will likely be hot, you may want to bring your own water bottle with you.
  • Masks are not required, but if you or your family are more comfortable, please bring your own mask to wear. Hand sanitizer will be available upon arrival.
  • If possible, please refrain from using the restroom while at the venue. Restrooms will be available if necessary.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact Laney Henson or Josh Moyers.

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday!
